How often do you have days that are difficult or just plain hard? Those days seem to pile on stress and a darkness surrounds you. I know how this feels- I was surrounded with so much pain after my sister, Mandi, passed. I felt lost and alone ...until I reached out to God with prayer for comfort.
I didn’t even know that I was praying. At the time, I just had a well of pain that had to be expressed for my growth. I didn’t know that the actions of journaling were the best way for Him to lead me out of the darkest of times.
I believe that God leads us through these situations as part of a way to bring us strength, courage, grace and His Love to the fabric of our Being. To our soul. I came through the darkness transformed and with great purpose. And you can too.
Matthew 11:28-30 states, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
It is my prayer that you will find comfort through your connection to God. Let us pray together:
- Breathe deeply and contemplate on the word Comfort.
- Feel into where you are in your life.
- Identify what you are comfortable with right now.
- Identify what you are experiencing that is NOT comfortable.
- Breathe into the uncomfortable feeling and ask God to bring you comfort and peace.
Now pull out your journal and write whatever comes into your heart to share. There is not a wrong entry- just let it flow.
Lastly, color or draw to ground your new feelings into your life.
